During my career, I led a wild variety (pun intended!) of digitalisation projects for supply chains and beyond. Some with more success, some with less, depending on how well the company was willing to define the project and objectives, and diligently follow up on what they needed.

Supply chains were complaining for a few decades for not having good enough technology to support operations…..now technology surpassed the need and we are on the "dumb" side of AI and orchestration technologies...interesting, isn't it?

What can be done then?

1. Have a clear expectation from technology and what it will enable (it is an enabler afterall)
2. Start a trust based collaboration with your CIO and develop this part of the supply chain strategy together
3. Execute fast and evaluate fast (no 5 year plans on changing any IT solution...it is already obsolete by then)
